Kingsley Healthcare opened its state-of-the-art care home in Downham Market, West Norfolk on the 23rd October, which specialises in nursing and dementia care for older people together with respite and day care.
The 62 bed care home, ‘Downham Grange’ located at Clackclose Road is a welcome benefit as there is no other care home with nursing facilities in Downham Market and the surrounding area.
Daya Thayan, CEO of Kingsley Healthcare said: “We are proud to have developed this care home with state of the art modern facilities. The home will provide top class specialist nursing and dementia care for 62 residents, serving the local community of Downham Market, West Norfolk and the surrounding areas. It is about allowing individuals to feel fulfilled, relaxed and positive in a place they are happy to call home.”
He added: “Kingsley Healthcare has committed our investment and expertise into this area which has been seven years in the making, serving the local community and creating employment for up to 80 people.”
The modern-purpose built care home, designed by Feilden+Mawson Architect and built by Morgan Sindall Group PLC, was officially launched by the Mayor of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, Cllr Elizabeth Watson.
This home makes it a minority in fostering an environment where it gives truly focused personalised care based on individual needs and well being. Elizabeth Watson said: “The purpose- built care home providing specialist dementia care ‘The Kingsley Way’ has taken seven years October), which specialises in nursing and dementia care for to bring to life, making it the only dedicated care home of its kind for West Norfolk and the surrounding areas.”
What makes it more special is this nursing home will mean that people who need nursing care will no longer have to go outside of Downham Market, so they can remain close their friends, family and loved ones.
Kingsley Healthcare prides itself on delivering specialist nursing knowledge, and experience, investing heavily in continuous staff training.
Partner and architect, Stuart Jones of Feilden+Mawson said: “We worked closely with the team from Kingsley Healthcare to develop a concept that creates an effective and practical living environment conducive to people with nursing and dementia care needs. The home has a variety of communal spaces and a central courtyard allowing residents’ a private and safe environment to enjoy gardening or sitting in the sun.”
He added: “Some of the more simple innovation has been to provide a “front door” to each resident’s room to convey a sense of ownership and individuality. It has always been a key issue to make this project feel like a home first and foremost above all else.
