This Saturday, 14th September, will see St. Edmund’s Church, Downham Market open its doors to the public for a Heritage Open Day, Car Boot Sale and Craft Fayre.
A special highlight of the Open Day will be that the Church Bell Tower, which is usually closed to the public, will be open to climb from 10am – 2pm.
The top of the tower is reportedly the highest vantage point in the town and will certainly provide some incredible views across the Fens on a clear day.
Meanwhile, inside the church, there will be displays about the history of the church. The current church building dates back to the 13th Century and is Downham Market’s oldest building!
In addition the church field will be given over to a car boot sale, while refreshments and a local craft fayre will be running in the church hall.
