Village Games Co-ordinator, Frances Rayner has helped downhamweb tremendously over the past 6 months by providing news and information on all things ‘Olympic’ (Click here to visit our Olympic feature page).
She has also organized several sporting events in the local area and helped people get active. Earlier this month Frances was lucky enough to have the chance to run with Olympic Torch as part of a team of 13 who were also relaying the torch out of Norwich.
“I was torchbearer 9 and ran at 7.30 am in the morning on Plumstead Road. My nomination came from my Step Daughter Hannah who nominated me for the fund I raising have carried out
running the London Marathon and the Three Peaks 24 hour Challenge, as well as the voluntary work I do in Downham Market with regard to sport.”
“The experience was absolutely amazing and one that my family and I will never forget. To be a part of the Olympic experience is incredible and I love the fact that everyone who see s the torch smiles and are genuinely excited to either hold or touch it…”
“Since running with the Olympic torch I have purchased my own. I have taken it to Hillcrest, Clackclose, Downham Prep, Watlington and Wimbotsham schools, I have been to Maple Grove Nursery in March and Kings Lynn Gymnastics club. If anyone would like me to take it to show their club or group I would be happy to talk to them and show them the torch. They can get in touch by ringing 07802448836 or email me at [email protected]
