2011 Christmas Lights

Starting The Festive Season With A Bang!

The town was well and truly packed with fun, excitement, laughter and joy this November 27th when plenty of festive events and activities took place…for the annual Christmas Lights Switch on!

The fun kicked off with a Santa fun run taking place near the town hall, where over 50 brave contestants donned a fancy Santa Claus outfit and got running in order to raise money for the Robert Foot Leukaemia Fund. The run/walk/jog was 2 laps of the one way system and was organised by Pete and Cath at Winning Ways also of the Ryston Runners The Christmas light switch on is organised by both The Lions and The Rotary The event was a great success and of course reasonably hilarious, so thank you so much if you took part, lets see if next year we can get to 100 runners! Take a look at some of the pictures from the run…As well as the Santa Fun run there was also plenty of festive activities and events happening throughout the afternoon. Rudolph was caught on the town square, 52 Santas were fun running around the town (thank you once more if you took part!), Christmas craft fairs were live and busy inside the Town Hall and of course there was brilliant live music from Hilgay Silver Band as well as performances from Clackclose and Hillcrest Primary School choirs. Also let s not forget the main attraction which was the lights! I was able to capture some nice photographs around the town after the big countdown happened. Here are some photos from the events:

We hope that everybody had a cracking afternoon… we certainly did!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!
