Congratulations to the Downham Market Rotary Club and Barclays for the money raised on the Big Cake Day for Shelterbox!
On Friday the 21st of June the Downham Market Rotary Club raised £720 for the Shelterbox Charity, Barclays have agreed to to double the money raised making the grand total £1440!
Added to existing donations they were able to buy three Shelterboxes. Shelterbox is a charity that aims to provide families that have lost everything through no fault of their own after a disaster has struck.
Shelterbox provide emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies around the world to families affected by disasters at the time when they are most needed.
The ‘Box’ itself that the Downham Market Rotary Club have purchased three of contain whatever is needed the most to the area it’s sent to; they can contain a tent, blankets, mosquito nets, tool kits and rope, cooking equipment and stoves, gloves, hats, scarves and coloring/drawing books for children.
