Downham Market held their annual “Pause and Remember” on Tuesday 11th November when the Town Square was filled with students from the local schools and many members of the public, as well as the Deputy Borough Mayor and Mayoress, The Mayor and Mayoress of Downham Market and members of the Town Council.
Following this event the students, Councillors, and many members of the public moved to the War Memorial off London Road where a special service of rededication was led by Father James Mather. The war Memorial has recently been cleaned and re lettered to commemorate the centenary of the First World War. During the rededication the names on the Memorial were read out by about 75 of the students from Downham Market Academy, Nelson Academy and Hillcrest School.
