If over Halloween weekend you fancy something different, Downham Amateur Dramatic Society is staging their comedy ‘Curtain Up’.
Written by Peter Quilter, the show features 5 very different women who are tasked with rejuvenating a derelict theatre they have inherited from one man, Michael. Mother & ex-wife Pam and her daughter Theresa team up with Sharon, Michael’s executive assistant, his Mother Betty and widow Jackie. The team need to bring all ideas to the forefront with Jackie and Pam clashing over ideas and money and with overweight Sharon staging aerobics classes. The team then arrange a, one night only, variety performance with Liza Minnelli as their headline act. Will the team prevail and will Liza save the group’s hopes and dreams for their theatre?
The play is being directed by Steve Harper and will be performed at Downham Town Hall on Thursday the 30th October until 1st November at 7:30pm. Tickets are available from LEWKS or on the door for £8 each. For more information on the society visit www.dadsdrama.org.uk.
