Local would-be entrepreneurs can access support to find out if setting up a business is for them, or not.
It begins by booking a place on a free business start up workshop “Is it for me” being delivered by The Consultancy Home Counties (TCHC) and held in the Assembly Rooms, Town Hall, Downham Market 4pm-7pm on 9 October. The workshop is ideal for people who have a business idea or wonder what it takes to start a business. It explores the skills and qualities needed to run a business and highlights the research and planning required when developing a business idea to the next level.
Funded by the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk and Norfolk County Council, it has helped many participants gain valuable knowledge, confidence in their own ability and helped them decide on their next steps.
Out of the 100 local residents in Kings Lynn and West Norfolk that have taken advantage of the free business support service, over a quarter of them have gone on and started a new business. They have also received further support by taking advantage of the free one to one consultations, business mentoring and other workshops.
Graham Coultas, Director of Enterprise for TCHC, explained: “Not knowing where to start is often the biggest hurdle for people wanting to start a business and sadly many a dream remains a dream. However, through the workshops and one to one support we can offer local residents, this dream can be closer to reality.”
