Local musicians are coming together to help raise funds for the Robert Foot Leukaemia Fund. Sarah Mawby and the Bluenote Band will be performing an exciting line-up of jazz, funk and soul classics. Saturday 10th November 2012 8:00PM Downham Market Town Hall Adult – £8 Child – £4 (tickets on sale NOW at LEWKS)
“I first started to sing in local concerts and shows when I was at primary school and Mike (or Mr Foot as he was then known) played an important part in my early musical career, letting me use the school assembly hall to practice both piano and singing during break times at school.” “I haven’t sung locally since graduating from University in 2011 and after our chance meeting I just couldn’t stop thinking about how I would love to plan a charity gig to help raise funds for the charity. The Robert Foot Leukaemia Fund has already helped to raise a phenomenal amount of money for a wonderful cause and I really wanted to help add to that total. I contacted a few old friends from school to see if they’d be interested in playing in the band and before we knew it we had ourselves a concert” The live music event will feature a live band and music for all tastes, from the classic jazz standards of Gershwin and Cole Porter to the more recent funk and soul hits from Stevie Wonder and Amy Winehouse. There will also be a licensed bar and a dance floor. “There’s something for everyone” says Mike Foot “what’s more, Sarah is incredibly talented and has an amazing voice. She puts the current X-Factor contestants to shame.” Tickets for the event are priced at £8 for adults and £4 for children and are available from LEWKS in Wales Court Downham Market or direct from Mike and Wendy Foot (Tel: 01945 780468).
