It will be celebration time in Downham Market on Sunday 25th November as the town prepares to switch on its Christmas Lights for 2012. An afternoon of fun and activities including musical performances, a craft fair and the hilarious Santa Fun Run will precede the Big Switch On at 4:30pm.

One hundred Santas will pound the pavements of Downham Market in the annual Santa Fun Run, in aid of The Robert Foot Leukaemia Fund.

A vote of thanks to the Downham Market Chamber of Trade
Over the past few weeks the Christmas Lights have been put up in place by a group of dedicated Chamber of Trade members and townspeople. Without the Chamber s hard work, support and funding there would be no Christmas lights in Downham. The team at downhamweb would like to offer a sincere vote of thanks to all those who have given up their weekends to put the decorations in place. Thanks also go to the Town Council and Downham Market Lions Club for their work organising the Switch On celebrations. 
It s worth mentioning that although Downham receives funding from both the Town and Borough Councils this does not cover all costs associated with the lights. There will be collection buckets at the square on the 25th – if you value your Christmas Lights, and don’t want to lose them in the future, please dig deep.
