A community fair to help promote clubs, organisations and societies in and around Downham Market will return to the town at the weekend. The annual event will be held at the town hall on Saturday from 10am until 2pm and give volunteer groups and local charities the chance to come together under one roof to tell people what is going on in the area. The event, which is organised and run by Downham Market Town Council, has been running for five years and organisers say this year is expected to be the biggest yet. Last year there were 35 stalls at the popular event which attracted more than 500 people. Kerry Heffernan, the town council’s events co-ordinator, told Downhamweb: “Despite all the current budgetary restrictions, Downham Market Town Council will still be providing a Community Fair this year for charities and support groups. “This completely free event is an ideal opportunity for local voluntary organisations to fundraise, raise awareness, attract new volunteers and simply meet other like-minded people.” For further information about the event, contact Mrs Heffernan at the town council on 01366 387770 or e-mail [email protected]. *For more events being planned for this and other upcoming weekends in Downham click here
