Locals Organise Climate and Nature Election Debate

Local people across West Norfolk from groups such as Friends of the Earth West Norfolk and King’s Lynn KLimate Concern are organising an election debate for candidates which will focus around climate change and nature.

The debate, also known as a hustings, will be held on Zoom on Wednesday 26th April at 7:30pm to 9pm. The groups have invited candidates from all the major parties. So far representatives from the Green Party, Labour Party, Liberal Democrats and also the ‘independent group’ are committed to attend.

Scientists from the United Nations panel on climate change delivered a “final warning” with their new report last month, while secretary general António Guterres said “our world needs climate action on all fronts: everything, everywhere, all at once.” It is clear that these topics are becoming ever more important in our politics.

The candidates vying for your vote on May 4th will face questions from members of these campaign groups, as well as questions from the public who attend on the night.

Friends of the Earth are inviting the public to come along to hear from candidates standing to election and put questions to them. Sign up on their webpage to receive the information to attend: https://actionnetwork.org/events/borough-council-of-kings-lynn-west-norfolk-meet-the-candidates
